Serenity
Serenity: Cloth, Paper, Metal and Paint. This 10 X 14, Mixed Media piece is another experiment in abstract design. The background is from pieced fabric, that has been free motion quilted and then painted with acrylic. The tree is made from artist metal, that was mounted onto black felt; and then embossed with embossing tool. The embossed design is then stitched with thread. All other elements are made by using fabric, hand dyed papers and glue, on brown paper. Sections are cut out and glued to background, using fabric glue. The textural feel of this work is almost impossible to capture in a photograph. I plan to work on this process more, as time goes by. More experimentation is required.

Hello Judy,
ReplyDeleteYour abstract designs are wonderful. This one also has that feel of ancient artefacts. It's fun trying new materials together and I bet it has triggered lots more ideas and combinations. I love seeing what you have been discovering each month about your art. Thank you Judy.
Best wishes,
Jane C
Hi Judy
ReplyDeleteI have to say this is quite a departure from your usual artwork and very abstract. You are showing lots of bravery with all the different materials. The tree is so cleverly
shaped in the foreground and the colours in the rear blend so well!
Well done!
Have a great weekend and hope your face painting event is successful!
Hugs,
Suzy
I love the pieced and painted background - something I'm enjoying doing too. I'd love to see it in reality to get the benefit of all the differrent textures.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! I would love to try something like this.
